Join us on Wednesday, 9 April from 2-4pm to find out how to trace your military ancestors.
This two hour workshop, led by yours truly, will take you through the basics of looking for records of a soldier, with a focus on the First World War (although we will briefly discuss Second World War and earlier sources). The workshop will include looking for medal cards, service and pension records for all ranks, announcements in the London Gazette, war diaries, soldiers’ wills, CWGC and TWGPP websites, how to find records for those in other services – from the RFC to the RMLI – and much more. After a talk with a chance to ask questions, there will be a workshop looking at different records and types of information, in order for you to start practicing with these sources.
The workshop is free, but booking is essential. The series is being hosted by the 2nd Air Division Memorial Library and will be held in the Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library. Call 01603 774747 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book.
Hope to see you there!
