A fantastic image from Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell collections – showing the Women’s Land Army stand from the War Exhibition at Blackfriars of 1919. The banner reads: ‘England Must Be Fed’ and ‘We All Feel Fit in the Land Army’.  This is just one of several hundred newly digitised original photographs, posters and notices connected with the First World War in Norfolk. Dozens of similar images of newly erected war memorials from towns and villages all over Norfolk will be added to Picture Norfolk over the next year – although we don’t have an image like this for every place.  They were originally added to the Norwich Public Library Photographic Survey collection in the 1920s and today are held at the Norfolk Heritage Centre.
