Final Evacuation from Gallipoli


The last troops are evacuated from the beachhead at Gallipoli


New Year Celebrations


800 soldiers were entertained at St Andrew’s Hall on Old Year’s Night by the Y.M.C.A. After tea with Lady Mayoress, Mrs Southwell, there was music and conjuring. These were followed by an address by Archdeacon Pelham.


Russian Battle Successes


In the Caucasus, Russian forces push back the Turks and go on to capture Erzerum and Trabzon. Fighting continues until April.


Hospital Success Story


3339 wounded soldiers had been received at Norfolk’s War Hospitals by the beginning of 1916, of which only 27 had died.
